The last morning was a little rough since most people didn't go home until very VERY late (some didn't go home at all)! It's funny cause since most of the groups ended up splitting from each other, there were quite a few people that we have not met and didn't know were part of aiesec until the last morning. The aiesec local came to our hotel to pick us up and then we headed to Venice. It was crazy busy since it was sunday and now the last day or carnival over a weekend. It's funny cause no matter what the light is, there are always Italians wearing sunglasses in doors, even the lil' ol 90 year old ladies down to the 10 year olds - must be a fashion thing.
When we got to Venice, Camilo wanted to break away from the gorup right away since the day before, we wasted about an hour waiting for people to meet up. We ended up meeting two American chaps from Rome who came the night before but we're late due to the delays in trains (very italian as I hear haha!). As such we set off and took the vaporetti to St. Marco's piazza since we only had about 6 hours left of sight seeing to do before our flight.
By the time we arrived at teh square, the place was packed with tourists (of course) and noticed even more extravagant costumes today.
(click on images for larger size... well sometimes)
After awhile, we decided to jam ourselves into a mass of people that was a so called line up to get into the basilica. I can't imagine how people would have done that in 30 degree weather cause there were a LOT of bodies smahed together.By the time we got to the top, the view was CRAAZY as you get to see all the people (the little ants) down in the square!
After St Marco's we heading back into the streets with the shops and decided to take Roland and Anuraag to Rialto - all while deciding to pick up some souveneirs along the way.
By 530 we part ways with the Americans as they are able to stay a little later. It seemed like we didn't learn form being late getting to Schipol. I'm not sure why Ana and Camilo thought we were on-time or early for the trian back to Mestre as I thought we we're tight on time. well afting finding our train, it ended up leacing early!! we started to panic and ran to the nearest bus station. We got on and the bus and then once we thought we were in the clear, we get into a traffic jam. From there I was quite pissed and when we almost gave up all effort to reach our one and only bus (that was fo our flight specifically) back to Treviso, we decided to give Domenico a call to see if he could get us. Well let me just say THANK GOD for Domenico, without him we wouldn't have made our flight and not to mention late for work the next day and having to buy another ticket basck to the A'dam. Even though he had an exam the next day and that the drive between teh cities was 30-40 minutes, he still came and got us. Lesson for all you kids: leave early for the airport when in Europe, very early. Thanks Domenico - you rock buddy!

Thank you Venice, and especially to Markus and Domenico of course! - it was great and I will definately very soon return to this great country!! Ciao!
ps. if you read this this morning, you may have noticed the insanely FOBBISH writing, that was because I updated the blog half conscious last night at about 2 in the morning and for some reason really wanted to publish and get venice over and done with. Mille apologizes everyone! No wonder why I got a 4 on verbal...
