Sweden Day 1&2: Stockholm

Stockholm: Sweden's political and economic capital

After Hermine did her cultural presentation at ABN and seeing the photos.. I just had to see the country. And it was a good opportunity to visit Jer in Jonkoping as he was finishing his Masters there. And after talking to Higgins and Lisa, it sounded like they had an awesome time. AIESEC definitely pulled through for me as I was able to find hosting with a local "alumni" Asnate as she graciously took me in for two nights.

Sweden in a nutshell: Stockholm gorgeous city with lots of history, green and architecture and it's fair share of canals; Jonkoping, Sweden's 10th largest city nice little place to escape to, Sweden countryside remind me of home; gorgeous blond-haired blue-eyed girls of course! What I regret is not seeing the Archipelagos islands, but there was no way for me to get there on the weekdays as the daily tours were not running yet (starts June) as they were only running on the weekends. Pics of my Stockholm experience that includes my 13 hours walk of the city:

late arrive at 10:30 pm, met up with Asnate by 11:30/12 am... very kind of her to wait up for me!!

gorgeous high-ceilinged apartments unlike the places in A'dam. Went to bed and woke up the next day to attack the city with great suggestions from Asnate. She provided me with a map and a possible route to take to discover the sites; the benefits of having a local!

Did the "Under the Bridges" canal tour of Stockholm... I think I fell asleep twice cause the ride was very peaceful and the tour was by audio.

after was dropped off by the Royal Palace and Gamla Stan, the old city in Stockholm.

small public square in Gamla Stan, the most famous one, Stortorget

Then went to the Sodermalm side of town (south side) and climbed a hill to see a nice view of the city.

from here, I ate lunch and watch his huge cruise liner take 30 mins to dock and pick up it's Swedish staff. Then took a walk back to the North through the shopping street towards city hall.

For some reason I had to pee lots... good thing those Max hamburger shops have free washrooms. What I have noticed is that there aren't many urinals in this country
And then walked Ostermalm all the way back up Vasataden to crash back at Asnate's. it was about 10 pm by the time I got home.

used Asnate's computer to book train tickets for the next day - crazy keyboard jsut like the french keyboards.

The next morning, had to wake up at 530am as Asnate had to take a flight to Riga, Latvia (her hometown) but was actually a business trip as she works for the Latvian embassy in Stockholm. with the early morning got to wander more of the old town, palace and the malls and then took my train to Jonkoping at 14h.
