Munich Day 1: A Bavarian Party and reunion with an ol' pal.

So Munich in a Nutshell: Great beer, great food, gorgeous city, nice people and awesome company! We met up with Markus who I met in Venezia back in February as he graciously invited me to Munich; so if he offers then I am happy to take advantage! This time tagged along was Olinda Rodas, my Paraguayan American friend who lived in the boat and wanted to do some travelling before returning to the US at the end of the month. She was in Germany about a day before me due to ticket complications and then I arranged for them two to meet up before I got there.

When Olinda Asked me how long I have known Markus before coming to Munich, I had to think about it and responded "Only a few hours!" which was true cause we only hung out the one day during Carnival in Venice.

Here are the pics of Day 1 in Munchen

First time that I have taken a sleeper train to somewhere. Paid 79 Euros for a return trip to Munich (Munchen) in a "couchette" which is basically an airplane seat - belh and the ride's ten and some hours. Trip starts at 8pm at night and arrive the next morning at 7:15am.

By the time I arrived, Markus met me at the Hauptbahnhof main station - this station is quite big and the first thing I notice - STARBUCKS! but I didn't buy any - I may have kicked the Chai dependency. Met up with Markus and felt like Venice all over again - this guy's got one of the craziest laughs - and people thought mine was loud! Two U-Bahn's and 15 minutes laters Markus's place was nice and cozy explains his room is quite "spartan" since he only moved in a few weeks before we arrived and many things were still in boxes - but let's you know how busy this guy is since he's always in Italy working!

Olinda lost her voice for the first days so we do most of the talking for her! When I got there sleepy head was still in bed.

Since Markus still has to work during the day, Olinda and I took it on ourselves to find out what to see, and with Wiki travel guides and Markus in hand we were albe to venture around no problem - plan was to walk around and then meet Markus back at 5pm to change and head out to the Chili Peppers!
Marienplatz is the main square is the area is considered city center - it is tourist central
we then climbed to the upper stairwell of an old church to get a great view of the city.Amazing view from the rop
hit up the market to see what there was after all of that stair climbing.

After strolling in the area of the University, decided to go check out the Olympic Park and possibly have lunch there.
We finally found ourselves looking for the BMW museum, celebritries and see what the fuss was about in the we
too bad the new museum is not open until Oct. - darn! What would be Germany without the German cars? supposedly the BMW building was built from top to bottom
After ,the weather turns from overcast to nicely sunny, it also immediately felt too hot.

after, we walked up a hill over looking the Olympic centrum- you can see that directly behind us there are kids that have already staked their place to get good spots to get a free hearing fo the concert later that evening.

took this picture because Germans are supposedly on the forefront of environmentalism... then again they do have the autobahn.Took the train to see the Allianz Arena - I completely forgot that FIFA was hosted here. This building was massive and so majestic.. it looked like one big bubble!

There were already kids ligning up for some good spots at teh concert. We still had a full day's activities but by the time we did them, we had to meet Markus at home and then change into clothes that were more appropriate.Markus excited to go to the concert!

we walked around, then where we were and then moved back towards home.

no cameras? that was the policy for entering but, then again so many people have them - though I was going to the point where I was going to hie my camera in my underwear.. I tried byut it slipped out.

One of the best live acts I have ever seen, but there salutation is very different as it it was litterally "thank you and goodbye" and then they walked off of the stage.

By the time we danced and sag our way to oblivion, Oli decided to stay and rest, we as we would go to meet Sam! at Marientplaz to have a drink or two.

Met up with Sam who happened to be on
And then after the bretzels and Weißwürste
